Astroturf can be a fantastic way to create a low maintenance garden. We use multiple different sources for our grass depending on budget and preference. All grass we use is pet friendly and child friendly.
To ensure our work lasts we have a process we always use.
We remove all current ground, use a geotextile weed membrane. Infill with hardcore (type 1) to build to correct height, then a layer of whindust or granodust, which enables us to get a perfectly smooth surface, using different approaches depending on different situations and budgets, we fix the astroturf to a bespoke wooden frame which cannot be seen, or use create a concrete edge for areas that are rounded and then the astroturf can be attached using high quality adhesive.
Each method would be considered based on budget, and the situation of the area of astroturf.
